Role

We have three Tax Officer roles within our Tax and Revenue Administration Division. These roles will report to and be supported by the Senior Manager of Corporate Income Tax. You will find our work environments to be supportive and diverse.

This is a diverse and challenging position for an individual who thrives on problem-solving and has the energy and creativity to make a difference. You will use your knowledge of tax interest and penalty calculations when providing advice to your team.

As a Tax Officer, you will perform tax administration processes for the Corporate Income Tax program in accordance with legislation policies and procedures resulting in fair and equitable treatment. Responsibilities include processing corporate tax return registrations and financial accounting responsibilities.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining an accurate database and assisting in system development
  • Analysis for optimal program performance
  • Developing and strengthening working relationships with the stakeholder community

Tax and Revenue Administration is evolving. Ideally, you will bring in experience with Tax and Revenue Administration’s (TRA) guidelines policies, and procedures. Qualifications

A University degree in Accounting Finance or in a related field plus 3 years of additional related and progressively responsible experience in accounting or within a tax administration is required. Strong MS Office Skills and experience applying accounting standards and policies as well as strong working knowledge of large accounting and financial systems are also required.

The following equivalencies may be considered:

  • Related diploma plus 5 years of progressively responsible related experience
  • Accounting designation plus 7 years of directly related experience

Assets:

  • Tax administration experience in a public administration sector (eg. Federal Provincial Municipal)
  • Knowledge and application of Public Sector Accounting Standards.

Salary

$2613.91 to $3428.61 bi-weekly ($68223 – $89486 per year)

Notes

This position is a permanent full-time position working 36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday. This position will be located at Sir Frederick W. Haultain Building located at 9811-109 Street Edmonton.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future roles at the same or lower classifications.
